Engagement Party
Your first announcement that you are getting married. Usually it is a more intimate gathering with just your closest family and friends to celebrate the beginning of this chapter.
Bridal Shower
A time for the bride to celebrate with her closest lady friends and family members, as well as her soon-to-be in laws.
Stock The Bar Party
Some people choose to do this in lieu of a bridal shower or sometimes in addition because they want both sides of the union to be included. The original premise was for each guest to bring a bottle of alcohol to help the newlyweds-to-be literally stock their bar, but the concept has expanded beyond just that.
Bachelor/Bachelorette Party
Also called a Buck/Hen night respectively. These are the “last hoorahs” celebrating the end of single status. It’s simply a night out usually with your wedding party and maybe a few other close friends.

Remember how excited you were during the proposal? Well asking your favorite people to stand by your side should also be memorable and fun. Usually these are little boxes or baskets that have a few small trinkets and an eye catching pop of the question.
Welcome Gifts
For your out of town guests if they booked through a block a rooms at a specific hotel. You can make up a bag or basket for their room with maybe a short story of how you and your beau met, some dinner or local entertainment recommendations, maybe a small trinket.
Day Of Ceremony Cards
These would be used to write each other a card to read before the ceremony starts. Often times people also write cards to their parents or to members of their wedding party for them to read in the morning to remind them how much it means to have them there.
Save The Date Announcements
People’s lives can be hectic, so these are essential to alert people to mark off the day on their calendars in advance, so they are available to come to your wedding. Very popular as refrigerator magnets!
Main Invitation - Invitation Cards
This is the "MUST HAVE" item. It outlines the date, time, location of the event and sets the stage for your perfect day.
Main Invitation - RSVP Cards / Envelopes
This is how you know people can or can’t come and if they are invited to bring a plus one this person’s name. Meal preferences and song requests are common additions to these cards. Basically anything you need your guest to let you know about should have a spot on this card. You should also include a pre-addressed/pre-stamped envelope for an easy return. This could also simply be details on how to RSVP online.
Main Invitation - Detailed Info Cards
This is used to outline more information about the event itself. If you have a dress code; If your wedding takes place throughout the day in multiple locations; Where you are registered, If your wedding has cultural or religious aspects that some of your guests might not be familiar with, just to name a few items to include here.
Main Invitation - Accommodation (Lodging / Transportation) Cards
If you have a lot of out-of-towners then it is custom you provide information on where they can stay, where they can rent a car etc.
Main Invitation - Direction / Map Cards
A map and clear directions on how to get to the venue, where to park and where exactly to go once they are there. Chances are if you are having it at a large multi-functional venue they may be having other events going on at the same time so directing your guests on exactly where to go will keep them in good spirits!
Programs
Gives guests something to read once seated and waiting to begin and also allows them to follow along during the ceremony. Introduce them to your wedding party and maybe a quick story about you as a couple
Menus
Outlines what will be served at the wedding. Buffet, formal service, how many courses etc.
Seating Chart
These have also gotten very creative over the years, but basically are just another tool to guide your guests to where they are supposed to sit during the reception.
Table Markers
Going hand and hand with the seating chart these should be large on the table so guests can see from the front where their table is located. Traditionally people have used Numbers or Letters for sequential organization, but feel free to get creative and use names of places you have travelled together, your wedding colors, or Family names
Name Plates
If you have a specific order that you want people to be seated at the table then these are used to ensure that couples and families are seated together
Posters
for Displays at your wedding. Options include, but are not limited to: How we met, relationship timeline, picture collage, The who’s who of the wedding party, a photo op, or a game to name a few.
Favor Tags
At the end of the night guests are usually given a small token as a thank you for attending.
Guestbooks
A memorable way to preserve who celebrated with you. Some popular options include a poster photo of the couple for everyone to sign, a calendar where guest mark their birthdays, or an actual book to write their name and maybe a piece of advice for the newlyweds.
Announcements
This is sent out after the wedding to people who are still important, but either couldn’t come or weren’t invited because you didn’t have the room for EVERY PERSON YOU AND YOUR PARTNER EVER MET, but you still wanted to celebrate with them that you are in fact now married!
Thank You Cards
Sent to your guests to thank them for attending and for their gift. These aren’t limited to just your wedding.
